Missing couple caught in Buda Road landslide identified

The missing couple who were caught in the landslide along the Bukidnon-Davao (BuDa) Road in Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon, last Saturday night have been identified as Ely and Thelma Ubatay, both 60 years old. The couple, residents of Purok 9, Sitio Minalong, Barangay Kahusayan, Kitaotao, Bukidnon, were reportedly riding their tricab (bao-bao) when the landslide occurred. Family members have confirmed the vehicle found at the site as theirs. Search and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities continue efforts to locate the couple.

Here’s a photo of the couple shared by Throi Capito Mancilla, a pastor from the religious congregation where the couple are reportedly active members.

Reports also revealed the couple have survived a similar landslide last year (2024) where they lost three family members. The couple remain missing as of posting time.

A son posted a video of the couple.
