WBC Minimumweight World Champion Melvin Jerusalem of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon will defend his title against undefeated WBC #1 Contender Luis Castillo of Mexico on September 22 at Mandaluyong City College Gymnasium. Jerusalem, 22-3 (12 KOs), became a 2-time world champion after beating Yudai Shigeoka of Japan via split decision last March. On the other hand, Castillo is undefeated in 21 fights with 13 knockouts and 1 draw. It will be the Mexican’s first world title fight and first bout outside of Mexico.
