The ₱100-million Ecological Sanitary Landfill in Sitio Sto. Niño, Barangay Bagocboc, Opol, Misamis Oriental, is nearing completion and is expected to be finished within this month. The project was highlighted by Mayor Jayfrancis Bago during his 2026 State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) held last August 31 at Taboc Gym. Once operational, the facility is expected to accommodate up to 15 tons of segregated municipal waste daily from the town’s 14 barangays. It will replace the municipality’s former open dumpsite and temporary waste disposal practices with an engineered facility designed to reduce environmental and public health risks, including groundwater contamination and improper runoff.

The project broke ground in July last year. Read our post below.
