Police arrested alias “Joe” and fatally shot alias “Boy” in a hot pursuit operation Tuesday, September 2, 2026, less than 24 hours after the two allegedly robbed Mr DIY store along City Hall Drive in Ozamiz City, taking around ₱60,000. The suspects reportedly broke through a rear concrete wall late Monday to gain access to the store’s vault. CCTV footage enabled police to quickly identify and track the suspects, who were allegedly members of the Pondoyo Robbery Group and linked to previous break-ins in Gingoog City and Tudela, Misamis Occidental. “Joe,” who had an outstanding 2022 warrant for robbery, was arrested at his residence, while “Boy” was fatally shot after allegedly firing at pursuing officers with a .45-caliber pistol. “Joe” is facing charges for robbery and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under Republic Act 10591.
