Ozamiz City has switched on the second traffic light of its Traffic Light System Installation Project at the junction of Don Anselmo Bernad Avenue and Animas Street, near DES Appliance. In a Facebook post, City Mayor Atty. Henry “Indy” F. Oaminal Jr revealed that 1,142 traffic violations were recorded within just four days of the first traffic light becoming operational at the PLDT Junction. For now, motorists are being reminded to follow traffic rules as the city adjusts to the new system.
Photo below shows traffic light violators number 1,141 and 1,142 running a red light at PLDT Junction. Mayor Oaminal noted that the photo was taken in the morning, suggesting that the number of violators may have increased throughout the day.
Six more intersections will have traffic lights installed in the coming days.
In this relation, the Ozamiz City Council is currently reviewing the city’s traffic ordinances to determine if adjustments are needed.
