Ozamiz City continues to innovate as it installs perhaps the region’s first in-ground LED lighted pedestrian crosswalk. Located at the pedestrian lane across Jollibee Main Branch on JP Rizal Avenue, the LED lights sync with the traffic signal, turning green or red to guide pedestrians. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who may find it difficult to see distant traffic signals as pedestrians are more likely to notice the changing signals directly beneath their feet, thereby reducing jaywalking and improving compliance with traffic rules.
Below are screengrabs of a video by King Basher during its installation.

Here is the in-ground LED lighted pedestrian crosswalk in operation.

Note that the LED light syncs with the traffic light.

We still don’t know how many will be installed in the city.
