Two more Kagay-anon teachers who have joined America’s Favorite Teacher competition are currently ranked No. 1 in their respective groups. MARLON FRANCIS SERINA of Aniguiin School in Elim, Alaska and ESTORMEO SERENA of Quartzsite School District in Arizona, both have good chances to advance into the next round of the said competition.
Marlon Francis Serina is a graduate of Bachelor in Secondary Education of Xavier University. He started teaching at Liceo de Cagayan University for 3 years before joining DepED in 1996 where he taught at Cagayan de Oro National High School, Carmen NHS, East Gusa NHS, Lumbia NHS and Gusa Regional Science HS. He was also a part time math instructor at University of Science and Technology of Southern Phils (USTP), Opol Community College and Tagoloan Community College. He retired as Secondary School Principal lll.
In 2021, he came to Alaska as a J1 visa holder teacher now with Aniguiin School in Elim, Alaska.
His purpose of joining is to be able to extend help to the previous schools he once served as a teacher such as the ones mentioned earlier which will be his beneficiaries if he wins.

Meanwhile, Estormeo Gomez Serena graduated from Golden Heritage Polytechnic College and has a Masters Degree from Capitol University and
PhD CAR from Bukidnon State University. He previously taught at Gusa Regional Science High School and held high ranking positions such as President of the Cagayan de Oro School Paper Association and Editors Guild, Inc., Vice President of the Regional Secondary School Paper Adviser Association of Region X, and Board of Director of the National School Paper Association of the Philippines.
In the US, he became a Research Fellow for 2 years of Arizona State University-Arizona Science Accelerated Project, Arizona State Level essay writing winning coach for two years and is currently a teacher at Quartzsite School District in Arizona.
