IAN KIRK ELMIDO (Special Education teacher at Cienega High School in Vail, Arizona), MELAINE PORNIA (Computer Science teacher at Casa Grande Middle School in Casa Grande, Arizona), and JOHN PAUL ENDAB (Physical Education teacher at Joppa-Maple Grove Unit School District #38 at Joppa, Illinois) all have a good chance to advance to the next round for a chance to win $25,000, a trip to Hawaii and a feature in Reader’s Digest.
Born and raised in Cagayan de Oro, Ian Kirk Elmido has been a Special Education teacher for 7 years at Cienega High School, an A+ school in Vail, Arizona. In 2024, he won a Fiesta Bowl Wishes for Teachers grant, receiving $2500 for his students. Additionally, he has led the Special Olympics for students with disabilities at his school.

Meanwhile, Melaine Pornia, a Kagay-anon and a resident of Barangay Iponan is formerly a Deped teacher for 12 years teaching Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at Cagayan de Oro National High School. She is currently a J-1 cultural exchange teacher in Arizona teaching Computer Science (Coding) for 3 years now at Casa Grande Middle School in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Finally, John Paul Endab finished his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (PE) from Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan in 2004 and completed Master of Arts in Education Major in Teaching PE from Lourdes College in 2019. He previously taught PE for 13 years at XU Grade School and PE & Health for 3 years at XU Senior High School. He is currently in his 3rd year as Teacher Exchange Program Participant in Illinois, USA teaching Physical Education (PE) from Pre-K to 12th at Joppa-Maple Grove Unit School District #38 in Joppa, Illinois.
