The installation of the 2nd stay cable on one pylon of the Panguil Bay Bridge Project was initiated today, December 13, 2023. These stay cables radiate from the pylon and are attached to the bridge deck providing essential support and prevent excessive movement or deformation of the structure. The tension in the stay cable helps counteract the forces acting on the bridge, such as the weight of the bridge itself, live loads (e.g., traffic or people), and environmental forces like wind or seismic loads. The bridge is targeted to be opened to traffic by June 2024.
