Misamis Occidental Gov. Henry Oaminal along with officials of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Region 10 (CAAP-10) led the groundbreaking today, October 9, for the ₱1.14-billion Ozamiz City Airport Modernization Project, which includes a ₱720-million two-storey passenger terminal building and a ₱422-million runway upgrade. The project will add runway lighting for evening and night flights, while the new terminal will provide facilities for international arrivals and departures. The modernization aims to improve regional connectivity, boost trade and tourism, and support potential direct flights between Misamis Occidental and South Korea.
