The 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division (4ID), led by Major General Marion T. Angcao, together with Jose Vicente “Lito” Cabrera Sr., recently inaugurated the newly renovated Borromeo Hall at Camp Edilberto Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro City. The two-storey facility houses the 4ID Museum, an audio-visual room, and a mini library dedicated to preserving and showcasing the division’s history and heritage. It is expected to become the city’s fifth museum. The ₱3-million renovation was sponsored by the Cabrera family, with support from 4ID and other partners. The museum features historical artifacts and World War II memorabilia from Cabrera’s personal collection and will open for educational tours and public viewing once the next phase of development is completed.

Borromeo Hall, formerly known as Staff Officers’ Quarters No. 1, honors BGen Patricio G. Borromeo, AFP, a former Philippine Military Academy superintendent and commander of the 4th Military Area. He lived in the quarters from 1955 to 1956 before his life was tragically cut short in a plane crash over Iligan Bay. The renovation restored the historic building, its grounds, landscaping, and interiors, giving it a renewed purpose as a venue for preserving and showcasing the history and heritage of the 4ID.

The Audio-Visual (AV) Room and Mini Library, named after 2Lt Baltazar A. Cabrera, honors his military legacy while serving as a space for learning, research, and historical reflection. It contains books, publications, historical references, and educational materials, including items from Cabrera’s personal collection. The museum is expected to open for educational tours and public viewing once the next phase of the project is completed, helping preserve the 4ID’s history while supporting the Philippine Army’s modernization and future-oriented efforts.
