The Philippine Eagle Foundation has announced the death of Philippine Eagle Sawaga-Dalwangan while undergoing rehabilitation at the Philippine Eagle Center. After her rescue, the eagle initially showed promising signs of recovery, becoming stronger, more alert, and feeding on her own. However, she later suffered a sudden medical crisis and could not be revived. An initial necropsy has been completed, while further laboratory examinations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
The foundation thanked the rescuers, government agencies, local officials, veterinary teams, and community members who helped save and care for the eagle, noting that the lessons learned from her case will help improve the conservation and treatment of other Philippine Eagles.
