A Bukidnon farmer is being hailed as a hero online after rescuing an injured Philippine eagle that was reportedly attacked by more than 30 monkeys near the Sawaga River in Dalwangan, Malaybalay City on July 3. According to a Facebook post by Merly Omarol Suday, Marven Linoy was picking passion fruit when he heard unusual noises in the forest and discovered the monkeys attacking what he first thought was a wild chicken. After scaring the monkeys away by barking like a dog, he found the injured eagle covered in soil and trembling. Marven stayed with the bird, covered its eyes with fern leaves to keep it calm, and protected it with his jacket until rescuers arrived. The eagle was later turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for treatment and rehabilitation. His quick actions have earned widespread praise, with many netizens calling for him to receive recognition or a reward.
