With the pioneering batch of College of Medicine students now undergoing clinical internship and the College of Nursing set to be formally launched this August, the next major milestone for the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) is the establishment of its own university hospital. Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez said he will actively pursue funding for the proposed USTP University Hospital, which is envisioned to have an initial capacity of 100 beds. Once realized, the facility will serve as a vital teaching hospital, providing clinical training for future healthcare professionals while expanding access to quality medical services in Northern Mindanao.

This was one of the highlights during an alignment meeting between Congressman Rufus and the university’s top officials.

Congressman Rufus also expressed his commitment to having the proposed hospital included in the Department of Health’s Zero Billing Program, ensuring that quality healthcare services remain accessible to every Kagay-anon regardless of their financial capacity.
