JICA-funded 2nd WTP project for Cogon Public Market to start in May 2026

Construction of a second wastewater treatment facility at Cogon Public Market in Cagayan de Oro will start next month to improve sanitation in the area. Funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with over ₱11 million, the project will add capacity to treat wastewater and ensure safe discharge into the city’s drainage system. Once completed, it is expected to improve water quality, protect public health, and support environmental sustainability.

The project was finalized through a coordination meeting involving city government offices, the City Economic Enterprise and Business Development Administration (CEEBDA), and representatives from JICA led by Hiroshi Yamanouchi.
