A Samar cobra (Naja samarensis), a highly venomous spitting cobra endemic to the Visayas and Mindanao, was found dead along a roadside in Aluba Subdivision, Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City early today. In a Facebook post, netizen Shimron Alameda said the snake may have been run over by a vehicle the night before. Residents noted that snakes occasionally emerge from the thickly vegetated upper portions of the subdivision.
