PROJECT WATCH: Mindanao International Container Port Terminal Expansion Project Phase III

The Mindanao International Container Port Terminal located within PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate, Casinglot, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental is set to implement a 140-meter long wharf extension project as part of its Phase III Expansion. This was finally confirmed with the recent Information and Education Campaign (IEC) by the proponent for a Public Scoping activity scheduled on December 12 in relation to their application for an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).

The Mindanao International Container Port Terminal expansion aims to support growing domestic and international trade by accommodating higher cargo volumes, while also stimulating regional development by attracting businesses, generating revenue, and creating jobs both within the port and across related industries. It will likewise address existing constraints—such as limited berthing space, outdated equipment, and inadequate storage—to reduce delays and lower operational costs.

The project is divided into Phase 3A and 3B:

Phase 3A

  • Two (2) Post panamax quay cranes

Phase 3B

  • Proposed rubber-tired gantry (RTG) yard with 2,370 twenty-foot ground slots (TGS)
  • Empty container depot (ECD) with 148 TGS
  • Additional workshop, warehouse
  • Additional RTG repair area
  • Additional access road and exit gate
  • Proposed out-of-gauge cargo OOG, pre-trip inspection (PTI) area and custom inspection area
  • 6 new reefer racks with 180 reefer outlets at Phase 1 existing RTG yard
  • New elevated fire water with fire house
  • New high mast lights (HML)

Below are the Site Development Plans for Phase 3A and 3B.
