After being closed for years due to construction of the Coastal Road and drainage works, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is preparing to reopen Gate 5 of the Cagayan de Oro Port near the Agora Market Complex this month. Port and Barangay Lapasan personnel have already cleared the access road and installed railings along the sidewalk for pedestrian safety. Once reopened, the gate will serve as a main entry and exit point for large container trucks, helping improve port traffic and logistics in the area.

The PPA had previously requested assistance from the city government to clear a section of Agora Road (Valenzuela Avenue) leading to Gate 5, which had been used as a dumping ground and parking area for trisikads, tricabs, and pushcarts.

Shown below are port and barangay personnel installing side railings to keep pedestrians from entering the roadway.

Gate 5 will be reopened once clearance is secured.
