A heartbreaking tragedy struck Mega Heights Subdivision in Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City, around midnight on Tuesday, October 21, when a house fire claimed the lives of a couple and their 13-year-old daughter. CCTV footage captured the devastating blaze that quickly engulfed their home. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, while neighbors shared that the house had reportedly been without electricity for the past 15 years.
Police identified the victims as 66-year-old Sisinio Talara, his 40-year-old wife Annie Rose Talara, and their 13-year-old daughter Mary Rose. The family was trapped inside their home as the fire spread, and their charred bodies were later recovered from the site. Responding firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby houses.

Meanwhile, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro has extended ₱30,000 in funeral assistance per victim through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Disaster Response Office to help the bereaved family.
