Villagers along the coast of Purok 7, Barangay Samburon in Linamon, Lanao del Norte were surprised to find a dolphin swimming close to shore. According to video uploader Joseph Dela Torre, the dolphin had visible bruises but was still alive. It appeared to be heading inland, prompting residents to help guide it back to deeper waters. Experts say dolphins often come ashore due to disorientation, especially when they enter shallow waters where their sonar becomes confused by echoes from the seabed and shoreline. In other cases, dolphins may approach land because of illness or injury.
