Construction of the ₱37-billion Mindanao Transport Connectivity Improvement Project (MTCIP) is expected to begin in 2027, covering the upgrading of the 422-kilometer Cagayan de Oro–Davao–General Santos corridor and the rehabilitation of 128 kilometers of key agricultural roads in Bukidnon, Davao, and Sarangani. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced this during the first Project Steering Committee meeting held on October 10, 2025, in Cagayan de Oro City. Co-financed by the World Bank (₱25.46 billion) and the Philippine government (₱11.54 billion), the project aims to enhance transport connectivity, safety, and access across Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and Central Mindanao.
The design phase is scheduled to start in January 2026, followed by construction and a five-year maintenance program to ensure the project’s long-term quality and performance.
