An Everett’s Scops Owl (Otus everetti), a nocturnal species endemic to the Philippines, was recently spotted perched on a house in Claveria, Misamis Oriental. The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), which was informed of the sighting, advised delaying any rescue efforts until after sunset to give the owl, which is active at night, a chance to fly away on its own. True enough, the owl eventually took flight after sundown.
