Misamis Oriental recorded a population of 988,065 (excluding Cagayan de Oro) as of July 1, 2024, according to the latest census released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Outside of the two component cities of Gingoog and El Salvador, Tagoloan remains the most populous municipality with 80,424 residents, followed by Balingasag with 76,877, Opol with 66,836, and Jasaan with 58,098. Meanwhile, the town of Binuangan is the least populated, with 8,293 residents.
