The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Commission En Banc approved on July 10, 2025, the Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) for the Higaonon ICCs/IPs of Nahilaran, Dansolihon, in Cagayan de Oro City. This is the first CADT granted within the city’s southern hinterlands. The CADT is an official recognition issued by the NCIP, affirming the rights of Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) to possess and own their ancestral domains as identified and delineated under the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA).
This historic milestone for the Higaonon ICCs/IPs was made possible through the leadership of NCIP Chairperson and CAR and Region I Ethnographic Commissioner Marie Grace T. Pascua, Region II Ethnographic Commissioner Simplicia Hagada, Region III and Rest of Luzon Ethnographic Commissioner Atty. Rhodex P. Valenciano, Island Groups and Rest of Visayas Ethnographic Commissioner Alex A. Centena, Central Mindanao Ethnographic Commissioner Nancy A. Catamco, and Northern and Western Mindanao Ethnographic Commissioner Atty. Pinky Grace P. Pabelic.
