The Department of Trade and Industry–Misamis Oriental, in partnership with the Misamis Oriental Retailers Association (MISORRA), recently launched Halal Lanes at two major grocery stores in Cagayan de Oro—Ororama Supercenter Inc. and Shopwise Limketkai. The initiative ensures that Halal-certified products are accessible and clearly visible to the Muslim community and other consumers, supports the promotion of Halal tourism, and highlights the retailer group’s commitment to inclusivity. The launch also complies with City Ordinance No. 14477-2023.

Ororama’s shelves now feature Halal products such as canned goods, milk, biscuits, and condiments. The grocery also has a dedicated freezer section for Halal frozen items, including lumpia, hotdogs, siomai, crab sticks, and more.

Meanwhile, at Shopwise, dedicated shelves are stocked with Halal products such as nuts, beverages, noodles, milk, condiments, rice, pasta, and more, all displayed in its two back-to-back Halal lanes.

The Halal Lane Launching Caravan is also a collaboration among the DTI, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), the Oro Chamber, the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA), the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and local media partners.
