Meiji Chocolate, a renowned Japanese brand, is exploring a promising partnership with Iligan City as a potential cacao supplier hub for the entire Northern Mindanao. In a meeting held last Friday night, City Mayor Frederick Siao met with Meiji representative Mr. Tokusen Aoki who discussed the opportunity with PNOC Board Director Joel R. Caminade, his daughter Atty. Christine Caminade, and Marie Grace Halibas, head of the Iligan Investment and Incentives Promotion Center (IIIPC).
The partnership aims to support local cacao farmers and boost the regional economy. Plans are underway to formalize the agreement through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), which will open up more opportunities for local producers, create jobs, and contribute to Iligan’s economic growth. The initiative underscores a shared commitment to uplifting the community and advancing the agriculture sector in the region.
