Today, April 11, 2025, the PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority signed a contract with Philco Food Processing, Inc., a Thai World Group affiliate, to establish a Coconut Milk Processing Plant on a 3.96-hectare lot in Mohon, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. The plant will produce 78,000 tons of UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) coconut milk each year for export. The project is expected to create around 1,000 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs with commercial operations scheduled to commence between December 2025 and January 2026.
The facility requires 500,000 mature coconuts daily from Mindanaoan farmers—providing a major boost to Northern Mindanao’s agricultural economy, as well as other sourcing areas like Dipolog, Pagadian, Lanao, and Zamboanga del Norte. Meanwhile, Thai World Group, the largest and most established coconut processing company in Thailand, operates extensively across the USA, Europe, and Thailand.
