Macahambus Cave, one of Cagayan de Oro’s well-known historical and tourist sites, has fallen into neglect. City Councilor Bernie “Bitokbitok” Esparcia shared on Facebook that the cave, located along the highway, is no longer tourist-friendly. Locals have reported incidents of individuals using the cave for drug activities and illicit gatherings. These concerns came to light following a joint inspection and political boundary survey conducted by the City Council Committee on Arbitration where it was assessed that the cave belongs to Barangay Bayanga while Macahambus Gorge is within Barangay Lumbia.
