Brigadier General Michele B. Anayron Jr. officially assumed command of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, Philippine Army, during a Change of Command Ceremony yesterday, January 28, 2025. The event, held at the Division Clubhouse in Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, was presided over by Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, Commanding General of the Philippine Army.

A proud member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992, BGen Anayron is a seasoned Army officer with over 30 years of exemplary service and leadership. Throughout his career, he has held various key positions, ultimately culminating in his appointment as the 54th Commander of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID). He has taken command from Acting Commander Brigadier General Consolito P. Yecla, who temporarily held the position following the retirement of Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II (Ret.) last week.

Prior to his assumption, he led significant accomplishments both in operations and civil-military affairs as the Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade of the 4ID based in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon since January 13, 2023. He also served in various posts under 4ID such as the Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs (ADC-RRA), Chief of Staff, and Commanding Officer of the 4th Civil-Military Operations Battalion, and Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, G4.

During the early years of his military service, Brigadier General Anayron was assigned to various provinces in the Visayas under the 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division from 1992 to 1999. He successfully led both the 25th Infantry Battalion and the 67th Infantry Battalion of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division in the Davao region.

During his inaugural speech, BGen Anayron emphasized the Division’s commitment to strengthening and enhancing its acclaimed banner program, the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development (CAPDev), as well as a similar program in the Caraga region. This initiative represents a comprehensive and collaborative approach to addressing the root causes of insurgency in the 4ID’s area of responsibility. He also affirmed the Division’s dedication to ensuring the safe, orderly, and credible conduct of the 2025 Mid-Term Elections, along with its role in external security.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Galido expressed his appreciation to BGen. Yecla for his brief but impactful tenure as Acting Commander of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) and congratulated BGen. Anayron on his new role as the Commander of 4ID.

Present at the ceremony were Lt. Gen. Luis Rex D. Bergante, Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMiNCom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); MGen. Rey Alemania, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (J4) of the AFP; MGen. Allan D. Hambala, Commander of the 10th Infantry Division (10ID); and PBGen. Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO 10.
