PROJECT WATCH: Proposed naval base at Phividec will be Mindanao’s biggest

The proposed Philippine Navy base at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, is set to become the largest naval facility in Mindanao. Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr. highlighted that the naval base will function as the operational hub of the Philippine Navy while also serving a vital role in disaster response. It will also feature a dockyard for ship maintenance, ensuring fleet readiness. The initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the government’s defense capabilities in Mindanao. The Department of National Defense (DND) targets the facility to be fully operational by 2026.
