The Concession Agreement for the Laguindingan International Airport Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project was signed today, October 28, 2024, at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. witnessed the signing between Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jamie J. Bautista, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo and Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) President and Chief Executive Officer Cosette V. Canilao.
The Agreement is considered the first unsolicited proposal awarded by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) during this Administration. It is seen to transform the Laguindingan International Airport in the Province of Misamis Oriental into a modern, efficient and sustainable gateway in Northern Mindanao that meets global standards.
In partnership with the private sector through the Aboitiz InfraCapital, the PhP12.75 billion project aims to upgrade the airport’s facilities and enhance passenger traveling experience through increased comfort and convenience. It is also expected to create more socioeconomic opportunities in key regional cities and provinces by boosting tourism, trade, investments and employment.
