While construction has started on both ends of the 8.95-kilometer Cagayan de Oro Coastal Road (Puerto-Gusa Section) Project, the Feasibility Study for the Iconic Bridge or the 6.33-kilometer viaduct section has already been completed. This bridge will span the private ports in Baloy as well as cross the Gusa, Cugman, Umalag and Agusan Rivers. NEDA Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño confirmed this during the Liveable Cities Philippines event last week. The project is now awaiting approval of the Certificate of Completion of the Study. The entire coastal road project is estimated to cost P36.294 billion, with the iconic bridge alone projected at P20 billion.

Here’s the indicative alignment of the Puerto-Gusa Section of the Coastal Road Project.

Last June 2024, only around 660 meters of rock embankment have been completed.
