Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista led today’s ceremonial awarding of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) for the control, management, operations, and maintenance of the Laguindingan International Airport. AIC President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Cosette Canilao and VP and Head of Airports Business Rafa Aboitiz attended the event. AIC has committed to increasing the airport’s capacity from its current 1.6 million passengers annually to 3.9 million by the end of the first phase of expansion, and to 6.3 million passengers by the second phase. The airport’s operations and management will officially be handed over to AIC in April 2025.

Present during the ceremony was Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Cong, Rufus B. Rodriguez who urged AIC officials to establish as soon as possible the Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) facility of the Laguindingan Airport to finally accommodate international flights to countries, such as Hong Kong and Singapore, and finally transform the Laguindingan Airport into a globally-competitive airport.

Also in attendance during the Notice of Award Ceremony are DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Roberto Lim, CAAP Deputy Director General (DDG) Danjun Lucas, AIC VP for Investments Frocks Roque, Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter Unabia, Misamis Oriental 2nd District Cong. Bambi Emano, CAAP X Manager Job de Jesus, and Laguindingan Mayor Diosdado Obsioma.
