Executives of Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC) led by Rafael Aboitiz, Vice President, Head of Airports Business recently met with Misamis Oriental 2nd District Rep. Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano in Congress to provide an update on the Award and Asset Handover Timeline for Laguindingan Airport under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project. AIC is set to be awarded the PPP contract to operate and maintain the airport after no comparative proposals were received by the government during the Swiss Challenge process.
During the meeting, Cong. Cong Bambi requested that workers from Laguindingan Airport, particularly those originally from Lumbia Airport and from Mindanao, be retained in their positions. He also outlined his plant to create a Technical Working Group to develop a roadmap for ensuring the smooth handling of increased inbound and outbound flights at the airport. This initiative aims to boost economic growth in Misamis Oriental and across Mindanao, while also generating additional job opportunities in the region.
According to the PPP Code, the Signing of the Concession Agreement is scheduled for October 23, 2024, with the transition period concluding on April 21, 2025.
