Planning to join the “Panaad sa Birhen sa Guadalupe” in Cagayan de Oro? The 4.5-kilometer long trek includes 9 river crossings before reaching the Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine located in Igbalalay Hills in Balubal. While organizers have introduced a shorter 2.3-kilometer trek from Barangay Balubal, many still opt for the original route due to its river crossings and shade trees, offering a comforting respite from the sun’s intense heat.

BALUBAL ROUTE

This is the entrance to the route in Tablon where personnel from both city hall and barangay carefully monitor the trekkers.

Meanwhile, this is the start of the Balubal route which is shorter and descending route. But trekkers will somehow have to endure the sun’s heat.

City Hall recently released guidelines for both Guadalupe and Malasag.
