Cong. Rufus Rodriguez together with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office and local barangay officials, recently led the groundbreaking ceremony for the 15-hectare Camping Grounds of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) in Malasag, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City. The initial development covers construction of a kilometer long access road worth P24,125,000 and the Administrative Building as well as initial phase of the grandstand and oval arena also worth P24,125,000.

Here’s the exact location.

The 15-hectare area has been delineated for the camping grounds within the tenurial instrument held by the Emmanuel Pelaez Ranch Inc. (EPRI). Below is the site development plan.

Here’s the route map of the access road.

The road has a total length of 1.052 kilometers with a width of 6 meters and thickness of 23 cm.

Aside from the main access road, secondary roads will also be constructed to reach the grandstand and the arena, and cemented pathways to reach the separate campsites, with showers and comfort rooms, for both the boy scouts and girl scouts.

Another P25 million was also secured by Cong. Rufus for this year to finish the grandstand and the arena, as well as the showers and comfort rooms of the campgrounds. Here are onsite photos.

Once completed, the BSP-GSP Campgrounds Project will serve as the venue for local camping activities, as well as regional, national, and international jamborees in the future. These events are expected to draw thousands of visitors to the city, significantly enhancing its economic vitality.
