House Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization has approved House Bill No. 1843 authored by Rep. Rufus Rodriguez creating the Metro Cagayan de Misamis Development Authority (MCMDA). Covered by MCMDA are the cities of Cagayan de Oro and El Salvador and the municipalities of Villanueva, Tagoloan, Opol, Alubijid and Laguindingan in Misamis Oriental.
The proposed Authority will provide services to the coverage area which shall include Development Planning; Transport and Traffic Management; Solid Waste Disposal and Management; Flood Control and Sewerage Management; Urban Renewal, Zoning and Land Use Planning and Shelter Services; Health and Sanitation, Urban Protection and Pollution Control; and Public Safety.
