Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Cong. Rufus Rodriguez is pushing for the inclusion of five (5) major infrastructure projects in the city in the DPWH budget for 2025. These are Gusa Flyover, Covered Walkway from NMMC to Limketkai, Macasandig Flyover, Sayre Highway Pedestrian Overpass and Pedestrian Overpasses along the National Highway at Malasag Crossing and FS Catanico Crossing.
Said projects were presented during the Infrastructure and Utilities Development Committee (InfraCom) Meeting of the Regional Development Council (RDC) – 10, chaired by Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter Unabia, held at the DPWH-10 Regional Office.
The projects which got the committee’s approval are as follows:
1. Construction of Gusa Flyover (across intersection at Galaxy Road)
P900 million (P300 million in 3 packages in FY 2025)
This proposed project spanning 600 meters in the intersection of BCIR (CM Recto) and Galaxy Road in Brgy. Gusa will help solve the heavy traffic in the area due to the huge volume of cars that pass through, especially during rush hours.
2. Construction of an Elevated Covered Walkway from NMMC to Limketkai Mall
P432 million
This covered walkway will connect the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), crossing Corrales Avenue to Centrio Mall, crossing Capt. Vicente Roa St. and Osmeña St., to SM CDO Downtown, all the way to Limketkai Gateway Tower.
The project will likewise link to Gaisano Mall on the other side and connect to the Nazareno Church beside it.
This project guarantees the safety of the people who will be going to the different malls in the area. It also offers them convenient access to these places as the walkway will be covered, protecting them from the heat of the sun or the rain.

3. Construction of Macasandig Flyover going to Aluba-Tibasak
This project will help ease the volume of cars and save time for drivers and passengers that travel to Aluba area and to the Tibasak area in Macasandig, especially during rush hours.
4. Construction of Pedestrian Overpass in Sayre Highway, Puerto
P30 million
This project will construct a much-needed Pedestrian Overpass from Gaisano Mall – Puerto to the Puerto Market where a lot of people cross multiple times a day. This area poses danger to crossing pedestrians as big trucks from the Sayre Highway pass through this road.
5. Construction of Pedestrian Overpasses over BCIR at Malasag Crossing, and at FS Catanico Crossing, both in Cugman
P60 million (P30 million each)
These projects will ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing the main highway along Barangay Cugman.
Rep. Rufus Rodriguez has vowed to ensure that all priority development projects of the city are funded during the upcoming FY 2025 budget deliberations in Congress.
