Five (5) suspects in the New Year’s Day Gaisano Capital Ozamiz heist have been arrested and charged with robbery today, January 3, 2024 in Ozamiz City. Accordingly, based on their statements, they confessed to the crime but they were allegedly merely following orders from a couple from Baybay Triunfo who planned the whole robbery. Further, the suspects also alleged that they turned over all the stolen jewelry and cash to the said couple.

Police earlier made an onsite investigation on the entry and exit point of the suspects.
Even PNP Regional Director PBGen Ricardo G Layug Jr personally inspected the crime scene together with Acting Provincial Director of Misamis Occidental PCol Dwight D Monato and PMaj Dennis Tano, Officer-In-Charge of Ozamiz CPS.


The suspects were arrested following a relentless investigation and hot pursuit operation by police wherein they recovered several pieces of clothing believed to have been used by the suspects during the commission of robbery at a nearby peryahan, and discovery of other vital evidence, which led to the identification of suspects involved in the robbery. Witnesses also came out identifying the suspects who are involved in other robbery incidents.






As of this time, the Ozamiz City Police Station tracker team is continuing the conduct of series of intelligence-driven efforts to possibly identify other persons involved in the robbery. Per the initial inventory of the actual stolen cash and jewelry from Oro Italia Jewelry Shop, estimated at Php 30, 678,079 other business establishments have yet to release their inventory of the stolen items.
