The cities of Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga have just formally launched a collaborative sister city partnership focusing on road safety program aptly described as ‘Ang kalsadang ligtas sa bata ay ligtas sa lahat’. The event held at Zamboanga City Hall came a day after the commemoration of the ‘2023 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims and Survivors’.
Cagayan de Oro City Councilor and Majority Floor leader Atty. Edgar Cabanlas representing City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy led the delegation from the city while Zamboanga City Mayor John M. Dalipe led local city officials during the launch last November 20, 2023.
The event is part of Cagayan de Oro City’s official visit to Zamboanga City purposely to accept the latter’s initiative to forge a sisterhood agreement between the two cities. The agreement will be officially signed when officials from Zamboanga City make a return visit to Cagayan de Oro City for the purpose.
With the Cagayan de Oro delegation were City Councilors Yan Lam Lim, Suzette Magtajas-Daba, Dr. Malou Gaane, Romeo Calizo, Jay Roa-Pascual, Atty. James Judith and Bernie Esparcia, as well as department and office managers from city hall.
