Swiss national Thomas Kellenberger has finally arrived today, May 25, 2023, in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, the end point of his almost 2-year global walk which started in Switzerland on August 25, 2021. The Swiss hiker aims to raise funds to build a second children’s village for Philippine Island Kids Int’l. Foundation, Inc., (PIKIFI) a charity organization which he founded in Cagayan de Oro that provides food, shelter, protection and security for abused, neglected, abandoned children and those affected by extreme poverty.

Kellenberger’s walk-for-a-cause started in his native Switzerland and his journey to Cagayan de Oro was dubbed as ‘Kuya Thom Goes Home.’ But his journey wasn’t easy particularly near the end of his global walk where his long journey has finally taken its toll on his body after he was hospitalized in Calauag, Quezon due to extreme heat and long marches. But his determination and physical strength willed him to finish his journey.
