Former Swiss cop now on his final leg of 15,000 km walk from Europe to Cagayan de Oro to raise funds for abandoned, abused children

Thomas Kellenberger has finally arrived in the Philippines for his final leg in a global walk which started in Switzerland in 2021. In his Facebook post last week, he was in Sagada in Mountain Province for his final 2,000 kilometers down to his second home of Cagayan de Oro City. A former Swiss police officer, Kuya Thom as he is fondly called is the founder of Phil. Island Kids Int’l. Foundation, Inc., a charity organization in Cagayan de Oro which provides food, shelter, protection and security for abused, neglected, abandoned children and those affected by extreme poverty. His hiking adventure aims to raise funds for his organization in building a second children’s village.

His long journey took him 13,000 kilometers on foot through Europe, Central Asia, South and Southeast Asia. His final 2,000 kilometers will be in the Philippines wending in his second home of Cagayan de Oro.
