Remember that Brown booby (Sula leucogaster), which was caught by a family in Cagayan de Oro City after it was found in the middle of the road? The endangered seabird has been released back to its natural habitat in Barangay Baybay, Alubijid, Misamis Oriental last March 17 by personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office No. 10 (DENR-10) led by Special Investigator Paulyn S. Laranjo.

The Brown booby is considered an endangered species based on DENR Administrative Order No. 2019 – 09 or the Updated List of Threatened Philippine Fauna.

It can be recalled that the Borden family found the bird last March 7 and took it under their care before turning it over to the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) for safekeeping. A staff of CLENRO then turned it over to DENR-10. Ms Laranjo of DENR-10 is shown talking to the Borden couple.
