Bukidnon world boxing champ Melvin Jerusalem mandated to defend crown against unbeaten Puerto Rican

Newly-crowned WBO Minimumweight World Boxing Champion Melvin Jerusalem from Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon has been ordered to start negotiations for a mandatory defense against unbeaten Oscar Collazo of Puerto Rico. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) recently made the announcement and both parties will now have 15 days to negotiate and reach an agreement, before a purse bid will be ordered. Jerusalem (20-2, 12 knockouts) is now rated no. 3 by The Ring, while Collazo (6-0, 4 KOs) of Villalba, Puerto Rico is rated no. 10.

Collazo only has 6 fights as a pro but has been a seasoned amateur boxer winning a gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games.
