The Philippines has a new world boxing champion after Melvin Jerusalem of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon dethroned Japanese titleholder Masataka Taniguchi via technical knockout in the 2nd round to claim the WBO minimumweight title at the EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan tonight. Congratulations!





Jerusalem caught Taniguchi with a strong right straight dropping the champion who tried to beat the count but fell down twice prompting the referee to stop the fight at 1:04 mark of the 2nd round. Browse more photos below courtesy of Sumio Yamada.
