Cagayan de Oro City ranked second among highly urbanized cities in the Philippines in terms of economic growth in 2025, posting a 7.37% growth rate and maintaining its position as one of the country’s fastest-growing urban economies. The city’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased from ₱295.62 billion in 2024 to ₱317.41 billion in 2025, reflecting continued expansion of its local economy.

The city also ranked 8th overall in growth rate including provinces.

Meanwhile, Northern Mindanao ranked 2nd overall just behind National Capital Region on Gross Regional Domestic Product.
