Consumers are urged to be vigilant when purchasing LPG tanks and refills, as some products may be counterfeit or may not comply with required safety standards. The reminder came after the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cagayan de Oro, led by Police Major Jerson Soliven, arrested a 59-year-old man identified only as alias “Jose” of Mambuaya, Cagayan de Oro City, during an operation against an alleged illegal LPG refilling activity in Barangay Indahag on July 30, 2026. The suspect is facing possible violations of Republic Act No. 11592 or LPG Industry Regulation Act and Presidential Decree No. 1865 or Oil Pilferage Law.
