The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental and Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI) are studying the establishment of cold storage facilities and food processing plants to better support the province’s farmers and fisherfolk. During a coordination meeting, officials agreed that smaller, customised food hubs with cold storage facilities would better meet the province’s needs than a large National Food Hub. The proposed facilities aim to reduce spoilage, preserve agricultural and fishery products, and increase the value of local produce through processing plants. FTI will further assess the province’s needs and identify suitable locations for the projects.
