CRIME WATCH: LGBTQ student killed in Malaybalay City; ₱30,000 reward offered for suspect’s arrest

An LGBTQ member identified as Neilbert “Betty” Donggo Benito, 20, was found dead on Monday morning, July 27, 2026, at Purok 7, Barangay 1, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. Betty, an Office Administration student at Mindanao Arts and Technological Institute and a resident of Barangay Sumpong, was found lying on the ground with a head injury believed to have been caused by a blow from a hard object. The Malaybalay City Police Station said they received the report at around 7:45 a.m. from a Civilian Security Unit (CSU) personnel. A suspect identified as Reneboy Sandulog was named after a witness reportedly saw him with the victim on the night before the incident. Authorities have launched a manhunt operation to locate and arrest the suspect, while Malaybalay City Councilor Jason Chad Ayala is offering a ₱30,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the suspect’s whereabouts.

The victim recently competed in Miss Q and A Malaybalay 2026, representing Barangay Manalog. Reports said Betty worked as a beautician at a local parlor while pursuing his studies.
