ABAMIN Party-list Representative Cong. Maxie Rodriguez and Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative Cong. Rufus Rodriguez continue to push for the construction of the proposed 240-kilometer Trans-Mindanao Superhighway linking the provincial capitals of the Caraga Region—Tandag City and Prosperidad—and Malaybalay City in Northern Mindanao to the Laguindingan International Airport. The proposal was refiled through House Bill No. 1952 and has been pending before the Committee on Public Works and Highways since July 30, 2025.
As shown in the conceptual route map below, the proposed Trans-Mindanao Superhighway will begin in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur, and pass through Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, as well as Malaybalay City and Talakag in Bukidnon. The route will then continue via the Talakag–Barangay Dansolihon Highway and the Barangay Dansolihon–Barangay San Simon–Laguindingan Airport Road. In the map, the sections highlighted in red represent existing roads, while those in pale orange indicate proposed segments yet to be constructed.

If the proposal is realized, the superhighway is expected to pave the way for the development of new road networks that will improve inter-regional connectivity, reduce travel time, and facilitate the efficient movement of goods and people across Mindanao. The project is likewise envisioned to improve economic growth and promote a balanced regional development in both the Caraga and Northern Mindanao regions.
